Horses is best described as a “vibrant soul rock orchestra.” Born out of the ashes of Dallas/Fort Worth’s favorite songwriters, Soviet Space, and using their unique blend of individual talents, Horses craft a moody mix of songs that draw from such penned influences as Wilco and Ryan Adams. Yet, their musical blend is rooted deep in the musical sound of legendary idols like Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan. Founded in early 2003 by, then drummer, Jordan Richardson (of award winning punk/pop outfit Soviet Space – 2001’s SXSW sleeper pick), Horses quickly established themselves, with the release of their debut EP (which was nominated as a critics pick in The Village Voice), as one of the Dallas Area’s premier live music acts, sharing the stage with the likes of Los Lonely Boys, Fastball, The Soul of John Black and Sorta, all in under one short year. The boys are now splitting their time evenly between famed Dallas and Fort Worth clubs such as Trees, Aardvark and Barley House, and writing new material for their highly anticipated full length album, due to be recorded in the fall of 2004. “In a just world, (Horses) would be blasting out of radios everywhere!”
